Hello everybody,
so you have a website, you have your opt-in form, now all you need to do is get some traffic to your site, right? Well here’s 5 simple ways you can do that:
#1
Include comments on your blog. I know this may seem incredibly simple and obvious, however I have seen many blogs which have there comments turned off. You want to create community participation with your blog, don’t cut them off, let readers have their say! Allow, inspire, compel comments.
#2
Add content to your site daily. Even if it’s just a short post. Search engines love good, relevant, up to date content, and so will your readers. So provide content, watch your traffic grow and your readership grow with it.
#3
Get relevant incoming links. The more websites you have linking to your web pages the more valuable the search engines will see your website as being.
Here are a couple of different types of links:
- A direct link looks like a basic website address, for example, www.yourwebsite.com
- A text link occurs when the web page address is embedded in the text. Readers simply click on the link and are redirected to a new website page.
You can encourage linking to your website by:
* Adding content to your site.
* Submitting to article directories.
* Publishing press releases.
* Blogging and participating in social networking forums, chat rooms and social networking sites.
Tip #4
Be Social! Now more than ever before, internet marketing is about building a community. Whether you offer a forum on your website or you participate in social networking sites, social media is a valuable traffic generating tactic. It’s all about communication, and there are many sites you can choose from to do this, look at Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Flicker, MySpace, Squidoo, Digg, StumbleUpon (the list goes on…) and find what works best for you.
Tip #5
Advertise for more exposure and trafficAdvertising, when handled strategically, can be used to promote your content and products or services. PPC advertising is often the tool of choice because you control the advertising budget on a daily basis and have the tools to test and track your advertising efforts. Once you’ve honed your PPC ads the return on investment can be phenomenal in terms of traffic and purchases.
For maximum results, create a traffic and SEO strategy. Outline your plan and your goals and then take the necessary action. Take advantage of these five traffic and search engine tips to boost your business.
There are many, many ways to get traffic to your website, what are your favorite ways?

Hi Ann-Marie,
Yep all good ways of getting traffic to your site/blog.
I coined a phrase a while ago - “He(or she) who has the most links wins.”
Another way is to participate in forum discussions. BTW I don’t see you at the MWA2.0 forum. If you want to get a password etc then Garry Parkes can organise one for you Ann-Marie.

You are quite right Gary, and I’m in the mood to check out a couple of forums right now. BTW, I like your photo, very debonair
Thank you for the heads up regarding the MWA2.0 forum as well, I’ll pop over and get a password from Garry Parkes now. I’ve been pretty much away for the past 6mths, so fallen behind a little on developments. Enjoying finally getting back into things

Hi Ann-Marie,
This is certainly true. I also agree with Gary, I find forums to still be a great way of generating links, building relationships and generating a nice flow of visitors. My old favourite still has to be articles and sharing them on the many article directories that are out there.
I’ll be sure to bookmark the site and be a returning visitor.

Thanks for your feedback Karl. I love hearing about other peoples favorite traffic techniques, and where their strengths are. Now I know where to go to when I need some advice on article marketing

I agree with all. Except posting daily is too much for me right now, I’m posting 2-3 times a week, but it really bears experimenting with sometime in the future to see how it affects my stats.
And what’s up with Alexa — it only shows a percentage of sites that actually link to me, egads. Could it be a nofollow thing? I’m not even exactly sure what nofollow is, but I see it around a lot lately. Must educate myself on that. So much to learn in blogging!!
And it was great to see you over at my blog! Thanks for visiting, Annie.

Hi Janine,
I know, posting every day can seem quite daunting. I have yet to master the task. However, WordPress does allow you to schedule your posts. When you’re writing a new post, on the right of your post where you see Publish, you have an option to publish your post immediately or at a later date. I’m going on holiday from tomorrow for a week, so I’ll be trying this option out myself.

I think I have now done the main things except for forums and video - this I’m putting together today - too late for AJs competition but getting that first one is the priority.
